Privacy Policy

Goodwill Electrical & Maintenance is a family-owned electrical contracting business based in the Yarra Valley, Victoria. This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we collect when you contact us or use this website, how we use it, and the choices you have. If anything here is unclear, please get in touch and we will explain it.

What we collect

We only collect information that we need in order to quote on and carry out electrical work. Depending on how you contact us, that may include:

  • Your name.
  • Your phone number and email address.
  • The address or suburb where the work is to be done.
  • Details of the job you are asking about — what you need, photos you choose to send us, access notes, and any preferred times.
  • Records of our dealings with you, such as quotes, invoices, job notes, certificates of electrical safety and correspondence.

When you use the quote forms on this website, the information you type into the form is sent to us by email. Please do not send us credit card numbers, passwords or other sensitive details through a web form.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, ours may record basic technical information when you visit — such as your browser type, the pages you viewed, the approximate location derived from your IP address, and the site that referred you. This is used to keep the site working and to understand which pages people find useful.

How we use your information

We use the information you give us to:

  • Reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote.
  • Book, schedule and carry out the work.
  • Issue invoices and keep the records a licensed electrical business must keep.
  • Arrange warranty work or follow up on a job we have completed.
  • Occasionally let you know about a service reminder — for example, that a safety check is due. You can ask us to stop at any time.

We do not sell your information

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we do not hand it over to marketing lists.

Who else may see it

To run the business we rely on a small number of service providers, and your information may pass through their systems. These typically include:

  • Our website hosting provider, which stores this site and its form submissions.
  • Our email provider, which delivers and stores our correspondence with you.
  • Accounting and invoicing software used to raise quotes, invoices and receipts.
  • Suppliers or subcontractors where a job requires it — and then only the details they need, such as the site address and scope of work.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, for example to a regulator, an insurer, or a court.

Cookies and analytics

This site may use cookies — small files stored by your browser — to keep the site working properly and to measure how it is used. If analytics are enabled, they tell us things like how many people visited a page and which links were clicked; they are not used to identify you personally. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not behave as expected if you do.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not turn into a job are kept only as long as they are useful and are then deleted. Where we have carried out work for you, we keep job, safety and financial records for as long as our legal, tax and insurance obligations require, and then dispose of them securely.

Keeping it secure

We take reasonable steps to protect your information — password-protected devices and accounts, reputable service providers, and limiting access to the people who need it. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee that information sent over the internet is entirely safe, but if something goes wrong we will act promptly and let you know if you are likely to be affected.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct anything that is wrong, or ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep. Just contact us using the details below and we will respond as quickly as we reasonably can — normally within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please tell us first so we have the chance to put it right. If you are still not satisfied, you can raise the matter with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
