When Something Goes Wrong With the Power, You Don't Have Hours to Wait.

You've got a burning smell, half the house is dark, or the switchboard keeps tripping no matter what you turn off. You start ringing around and every electrician you reach is either booked out, won't come tonight, or asks if it can wait until next week.

  • You called five sparkies in a row and got voicemail on every one.
  • The big "24/7" company told you it'd be a four-hour wait and a fee just to walk in the door.
  • You smelled burning at the powerpoint and don't know if it's safe to plug anything back in.
  • A storm rolled through and now half the house has no power, but the street lights are fine.
  • The hot water's out, the kids need a bath, and it's already 7pm on a Sunday.
  • You've got a fault appliance, a tripped power circuit, or something sparking, and you can't work out if it's safe to leave it until morning.
  • Your tenant just rang in a panic and you need someone on site before something gets worse.

The trouble is, most "24/7" lines route to a call centre, then to a contractor who may or may not pick up. By the time someone actually rocks up, it's the next morning. With a genuine electrical fault, every hour you wait is another hour of risk to your home, your appliances, and the people inside.

One Number. A Real Local Electrician. On the Road as Soon as You Hang Up.

Goodwill Electrical & Maintenance is a family-owned local sparky based in the Yarra Valley. When you ring our emergency line, you're talking to one of our team, not a booking service. We confirm the job, give you a realistic ETA, and head straight to you.

You speak to a qualified electrician, not a receptionist.

We'll ask the right questions, work out if it's safe to wait two minutes or two hours, and tell you what to do (or not touch) while we're on the way.

You get a real ETA, not a "sometime tonight".

We'll tell you where the nearest available tech is and roughly how long they'll take to reach you. If we can't get there fast enough, we'll tell you straight up so you can plan around it.

You get a team that shows up on time

No subcontractors that you've never met. The person at your door is from Goodwill, in a Goodwill van, with the gear to make it safe on the spot.

You get the fault made safe before we leave.

Even if the full repair has to wait for daylight or parts, we'll isolate the problem, restore power where we safely can, and book you in to finish the job properly.

From the first ring of the phone, you're in safe hands.

What We Handle on an Emergency Call

Goodwill Electrical is fully licensed, insured, and has been working across the Yarra Valley and Eastern Suburbs for over 15 years. Our after-hours team is available every night, all night. When you call, you get the same team and the same standard of work as a regular booking — we make the situation safe first, then talk you through what needs to happen next.

Power Outages & Partial Blackouts

Half the house dark, one room out, or the whole place down — including tripping power that won't stay reset. We trace the fault, isolate it, and restore power where it's safe to do so.

Storm Damage & Surge Faults

After a big storm, fried appliances, dead circuits, and roof-cavity damage are common. We check the switchboard, sub-circuits, and any visible damage, then make it all safe before testing.

Hot Water System Electrical Faults

Electric hot water systems fail at the worst times. We diagnose element, thermostat, and circuit faults, get you hot water again where possible, and arrange replacement when it's needed.

Smoke Alarm Faults & Chirping at 2am

A hard-wired smoke alarm screaming at 3am isn't something you can ignore until morning. We replace, rewire, or interconnect alarms so the house can go back to sleep.

Tripping Power & Switchboard Faults

A breaker that keeps tripping the second you reset it usually means there's an underlying fault. We diagnose it on the spot rather than just flipping it over and over.

Safety Isolations for Renters & Landlords

Tenant has called in a fault and you need it dealt with tonight. We attend, make it safe, document what we found, and send you a clear report and quote for any follow-up work.

When You Ring the Emergency Line

You don't need to know what's wrong. You just need to ring. We'll guide you through the rest.

Step 1.

Give Us A Call

A licensed electrician from our team picks up. Tell us what's happening, what you can see, what you can smell, and where you're located. We'll ask a couple of safety questions and tell you whether to switch anything off while we're on the way.

Step 2.

Upfront ETA

We'll tell you where our nearest tech is and roughly how long they'll take to reach you. The van is stocked for the most common emergency faults, so we usually fix it then and there.

Step 3.

Make Safe & Fix

On site, we find the fault, isolate the danger, and restore power where it's safe to do so. If a full repair needs daylight, parts, or a specialist, we'll explain it in plain English and book you in to finish properly.

Questions We Get Asked

Anything that's an immediate safety risk or a major loss of power. That includes burning smells, sparks, smoke from outlets or switchboards, total or partial blackouts that aren't suburb-wide, exposed live wiring, a switchboard that won't reset, or storm damage that's affected your power. If you're not sure, ring us and we'll help you work out whether it can wait until morning.

If Something's Not Right With the Power, Don't Sit on It. Ring Us Now.
